One of the big questions on evolution is that if man descended from apes - how come there are still so many apes around??!! They should all have evolved into human beings!:-)
An answer recently appeared on my computer screen - FINALLY [hold on tight]: Today's apes ALSO evolved. They just evolved into more advanced apes. So some apes evolved into more advanced apes while others evolved into human beings.
The lesson - מוסר השכל - is that when you meet an ape [next time you are at the zoo] HAVE DERECH ERETZ!! He is not a regular, stupid mindless ape. He is a highly evolved ape!!:-) In the spirit of affirmative action they should open up special departments in universities for apes. Apes studying advanced calculus. Apes studying ape psychology. Ape banana-eating fraternities.
How LUCKY we are that our ape ancestors got together and decided that they would evolve themselves into human beings with such a rich range of intellect and emotion. With the capacity to write powerful poetry and to compose STIRRING symphonies!!!:-)
Otherwise, we would have remained highly evolved apes studying Adam Smith economic theory at Stanford - but apes nonetheless.
