When Rav Kook ztz"l would go to mikva he would be mafkir [render ownerless] his towel. Two reasons were given for this behavior. One, so that the thieves who steal towels wouldn't be considered thieves [because they took an ownerless towel]. Two, because he was concerned that a towel might be obligated in tzitzis as it is a four cornered garment [but if it ownerless then it is not obligated].
When people heard about this they realized that another tzaddik like this just doesn't exist!
