Washington (AFP) - US President Barack Obama said Saturday that climate change poses the world's biggest single threat.
"Today, there's no greater threat to our planet than climate change," Obama said in his weekly address, which had an environmental theme to mark Earth Day on April 22.
"Climate change can no longer be denied, or ignored," he added, noting that 2014 was the hottest year on record.
--------------
There are hundreds of millions of people in the world living in dire poverty; countless people without a home in which to live; people are dying of starvation and treatable and untreatable diseases at this very minute; the Moslems want to take over the world and kill every human being who doesn't accept Mohamed; there are countless blind, deaf, lame, mute, mentally incompetent people in the world over; hundreds of millions suffer from mental illness; countless millions suffer from addictions of different sorts and the list goes on and on and on.
But the most powerful, influential person on earth, the leader of the world's most important country, asserts that our greatest problem is ...
Climate Change.
Either he must already be holding by Purim or he is incurably crazy beyond belief.
Maybe he was referring to a threat to our "planet" - i.e. something environmental [as is מדויק in his lashon] and not the myriad of other problems we have. But still - this is not what should be occupying him.
He should instead be thinking of ways to feed all of the poor children in his country and worldwide. That would be a good start.
