How does one create a human being?
You probably know the answer to that question. But what you maybe have never thought of is the fact that if someone is involved in this act of creation and is not "into it", if there is no "chiyus" and personal vitality involved, then nothing will be produced.
The Torah compares mitzvos to offspring [see Rashi at the beginning of Parshas Noach]. For a mitzva to be a creative act it needs to be performed with chiyus, just as that is the way to create children. [See Sfas Emes תרל"א]
If we take the simile one step further then maybe we can say that just as one gets intense personal pleasure from the physical act of creation, one should also derive spiritual pleasure in order to create spiritually from mitzvos.
Conclusion - Mitvos with chiyus and pleasure!!
