When one floats up in the elevated places of thoughts about Hashem that one can reach with a free spirit and strong imaginative powers, and a spark of the glorious light of the goodness of Hashem and purpose of all of creation seeps into his heart - the soul is elevated.
To the extent that he polishes his deeds and character and purifies his intellect, so that pure closeness to Hashem enters his heart and mind and the person goes very high, he is able to see all of the pathways of the world, intellectual and practical and from there descend goodness and kindness, filled with power and glory, and he can then lead the sheep of Hashem, His holy nation.

הראש, ומשם צופה לכל שבילי עולם, השכליים והמעשיים, ומשם יורד הוא מלא טוב וחסד,
