It happens to all of us from time to time that we call/text/email a friend/acquaintance and the person ignores you. This is odd. He wouldn't ignore you if he saw you somewhere and you spoke to him. It has yet to happen to me that I have seen someone on the street or in shul or elsewhere and spoke to the person and was ignored. Never once in my life. But technologically - it is daily practice that people ignore each other. This has been studied by psychologists and they have concluded that people have two personas - their real life persona and their technological persona.
Wow!
So here are three good reasons not to ignore people who have contacted you [I am not referring to mass emails that go out to 20 thousand people or the like]:
1] It is derech eretz and derech eretz kadma la-torah. לעולם יהא אדם. First thing is to be a mentsch.
2] If you don't ignore others, Hashem won't ignore you. מדה כנגד מדה. And מכלל הן נשמע לאו.
3] Many people are hurt or offended by this. Hurting people is not a big mitzva. You are better than that.
