There is one category of poor impoverished person with who we are all familiar. He doesn't have money and has to beg from others in order to get by.
There is another type of poor person. He needs approval from others in order to feel good about himself so he is constant seeking out approval. It is never enough. He analyzes compliments to see if they are sincere and if they are up to par and fully express his achievements and abilities. They are usually not and even if one person compliments him, he wonders why others don't.
Do you want to be RICH? Be happy with your lot - both materially and emotionally. Remember that seeking approval is a bottomless pit. Love yourself and know that Hashem approves of you [if you are doing your best] and appreciates you fully. All else is הבל הבל הבל הבל הבלים.

I sometimes think of people whose approval I have sought out in my lifetime, who are now dead. I think "I was seeking for approval from a dead guy." PATHETIC!!!
