חָֽנְנֵ֬נִי יְ-הֹ-וָ-ה֨ רְאֵ֣ה עָ֖נְיִי מִשּֽׂנְאָ֑י מְ֜רֽוֹמְמִ֗י מִשַּֽׁעֲרֵי מָֽוֶת:
Be gracious to me, Hashem, see my affliction from my enemies, You Who raise me up from the gates of death [Tehillim 9-14]
Be gracious to me that I should appreciate that Your Name is great because that is all I want in life.
If I don't seek out Your Name enough it is because of all of my enemies who rise up against me and You who see everything knows how afflicted I am from my enemies.
Raise me from the gates of death which is all of the misery inflicted upon me from my enemies that distance me from my true goal in life which is to seek Your presence.
Be gracious to me, Hashem, see my affliction from my enemies, You Who raise me up from the gates of death.
הנני מתאמץ בתפילה ואעתיר "חננני ד'" היינו שתחננני בהכרה זו שאכיר תמיד בשמך הגדול ד' כי אך זה כל מבוקשי ומגמתי. ואם עני ומעונה אני ואינני דורש בשמך כראוי, הלא זה אך מחמת שונאי הקמים עלי ומבקשים להדיחני, ואתה הרואה בכל המחשכים תוכל לראות עניי משונאי, והרימני אך משערי מות, הן הבלהות והצלמות אשר השונאים מקיפים עלי ומרחקים אותי ממגמת נשמתי ורצוני העמוק ומיד יתראה בי כי הננו דורשי שמך ומבקשי פנוך. חננני ד' ראה עניי משונאי מרוממי משערי מות. We are all struggling with various issues in life be they health related, financial, emotional, family problems etc. etc. But we must never lose sight of the ultimate goal - to glorify the Name of Hashem and bring knowledge of Him to the world. It is NEVER about us. We are just vessels to bring the Ultimate Good into the world.
We also have to know that we must not feel guilty that we are in a spiritual rut [most of us are]. It is the enemies i.e. the vicissitudes of life, that are bringing us down and making us forget what matters. Not to know Hashem is to be dead.
