Tonight [21 Av] is the yahrtzeit of Rav Aharon "Kdosh Hashem" of Belz. He was a unique, other-worldly tzadik and there are countless legendary stories about him.
One of his middos was limmud zchus. He always tried to find something nice and positive to say about Jews. A certain Rov was asked by a woman to tell the Rebbe about her son who had strayed from the path. The Rebbe heard but was not moved. The Rov emphasized how much he had strayed and the gravity of the situation, so Rav Aharon said "Ah, ehr iz fun Rambam's chasidim" [he is a chossid of the Rambam. The Rambam says that ישראל אע"פ שחטא ישראל הוא - A Jew remains a Jew no matter what, even if he sins].
The Rav went more into detail about how much this young man had strayed from the path, how he had sunk to the deepest depths of depravity etc. and the Rebbe said "Ahhh, ehr iz nuch mer fun Rambam's chasidim" [He is even more from the Rambam's chasidim].
זכות הצדיקים יעזור ויגן ויושיע!!:)
