Regarding the recent post on the Frankel Rambam - here, here, here and here are a defense for not quoting Rav Kapach and other Rabbonim.
I will say that the defense of not quoting Rav Kook and Rav Kalischer is especially weak ואכמ"ל. Oddly - Rav Charlap IS quoted and he was a big fan of the Medinah, Yom Ha-atzmaut and was a talmid muvhak of Rav Kook. So why the talmid and not the Rebbi?? [Not to mention another talmid of Rav Kook - Rav Hutner ztz"l, who is also accepted by the "Frankels" and the Charedi world in general].
The issue here is Kavod Talmidei Chachomim. The very foundation of our Mesorah rests on the Kavod we have for Talmidei Chachomim. If we don't respect them chas vi-shalom, then everything we believe is placed into question because we only know anything because they told us. As we find here [Shabbos 31a]:
"תנו רבנן: מעשה בנכרי אחד שבא לפני שמאי. אמר לו: כמה תורות יש לכם? אמר לו: שתיים, תורה שבכתב ותורה שבעל פה. אמר לו: שבכתב אני מאמינך ושבעל פה איני מאמינך; גיירני על מנת שתלמדני תורה שבכתב. גער בו והוציאו בנזיפה. בא לפני הלל, גייריה. יומא קמא [ביום הראשון] אמר לו: א"ב ג"ד. למחר אפיך ליה [=הפך לו]. אמר לו: והא אתמול לא אמרת לי הכי? אמר לו: לאו עלי דידי קא סמכת? דעל פה נמי סמוך עלי! [אם אתה סומך עלי, סמוך עלי גם בתורה שבעל פה].
