There is considerable backlash against certain people and organizations both in the frum and general communities for not acting faster and with more force against the virus.
I want to make a general point that is a mussar haskel for life:
It is VERY easy to sit in judgement after everything happens and decide what people SHOULD have done at critical junctures. I look back at some terrible mistakes in my life that cost me dearly and I say "Idiot, why didn't you make different choices?". The answer is [regardless of whether or not I am really an idiot] is that at the time I DIDN'T YET KNOW what would transpire and I was not and am not a Navi. So I erred. Another irrefutable proof that I am human.
Trump isn't a Navi, Agudas Yisrael of America aren't Neviim, Governer Cuomo isn't a Navi nor is ANYBODY else [except, of course, for the Neviim themselves]. The New York Times, Fox News and numerous other news outlets downplayed the seriousness of the virus at the outset. It is NOT b/c they are evil people and intentionally mislead the public but because they DIDN'T KNOW. This is the very first pandemic in any of our lifetimes. Were mistakes made? Of course. But that is because we are human.
What is less forgivable are when people were careless even AFTER it became clear what a monster this plague is. But that is another story....
Bottom line: Be accepting of human limitations.
Hindsight, like our calender year, is always 20-20.
Apply this lesson to your personal life as well and you will be wiser and more accepting of yourself and others.
