This whole מעשה in Afghanistan is really unfortunate for more reasons than one!!
For example: I was slated to be the scholar in residence for the Succos program in the Afghan Hilton. We were going to kasher the entire place and have LOADDDSSSSS of fun!!!! I had INCREDIBLE lectures prepared. Simcha Leiner and Mordy Shapiro [if you meet him ask him if he was ever in my shiur] were going to sing. Mendy the Mentalist was going to mentalize. 18 hole golf course. Tennis courts. Nightly Bingo games. 5 official shadchaniyot on site and that doesn't include everybody's bubbe who will also be looking to make shidduchim. 24 hour tea room [where tea and coffee take a back seat to the DELICIOUS pastries baked by our special pastry chef Mohammed] to make sure that when you get back home you can barely get through the front door. And MUCH MUCH more!!!!!!!!!!!!
