Binyamin Ha-Rasha

Every day I unabashedly say שלא עשני גוי. It is an honor and privilege to be a Jew. There is no nation on earth as special and holy as עם ישראל. Indeed - מי כעמך ישראל!!!

But I don't for a second think that an individual Jew is necessarily a better person than a non-Jew.

Case in point: There are prominent non-Jewish politicians and other public figures who are publicly standing 100 percent behind Israel and stating that there is no moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas. Israel is a democracy and Hamas is a terrorist organization. Israel wants peace and Hamas wants war. At the same time there are Jews, עוכרי ישראל, like Binyamin [ben Devorah - for the record] Sanders and his ilk, who have a knack for always coming out on the side of what is wrong and/or evil.

So Binyamin is a Jew. I hope that ultimately his neshama finds a tikkun. But in our reality I will take a nice Hispanic fellow like Ted Cruz who is more Pro-Israel and Pro-Jewish than a lot of people in the Knesset over רשעים שונאי ישראל who happen to have a Jewish mother.

Another example - the Japanese Diplomat and Chossid Chiune Sugihara who risked his life to save thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. Contrast that with the behavior of Jewish Kapos during the Holocaust.

So that is the dichotomy: As a nation we affirm our chosenness by Hashem. As individuals according to the Mekubalim we have unique neshamos. We appreciate our inestimable contributions to the world on so many levels. On the other hand we treat every human being with dignity and remember that sometimes our biggest supporters aren't even Jewish and some of our great enemies are. Some non-Jews are exemplary people and should be treated as such.

Crrrrraaaazzzzzy world!!!
