וַתְּדַבֵּ֨ר מִרְיָ֤ם וְאַהֲרֹן֙ בְּמֹשֶׁ֔ה עַל־אֹד֛וֹת הָאִשָּׁ֥ה הַכֻּשִׁ֖ית אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָקָ֑ח כִּֽי־אִשָּׁ֥ה כֻשִׁ֖ית לָקָֽח
It depends how you learn pshat in the pasuk.
Rashi says:
האשה הכושית – מגיד שהכל מודים ביופיה, כשם שהכל מודים בשחרוריתו של כושי.
כושית – בגימטריא יפת מראה, חשבונו של זה כחשבון של זה.
So no "Black Lives Matter" here!! But isn't it odd that Rashi who says abt. himself that his job is to explain pashut pshat, says a pshat that seems so against pashut pshat and even reverts to gematria???
The Rashbam and others:
שהיא ממשפחת חם
What we would call today a "sister"!!! And a HOOOOOOLYYYYYY ONE!!!!

Isn't is strange that the pasuk doesn't tell us what Miriam said abt. his wife and left it to the Meforshim???????
