Here is something remarkable. Yossi Sarid was a virulently anti-religious minister of knesset with the Meretz party and self proclaimed atheist. Atheists, we remember, don't believe in nothing. They actually will believe anything in order to maintain their atheism.
Many years back he had a near-death experience. He related that his "neshama" left his "guf". He saw his children crying and his wife go pale. He watched them not from his body and with his eyes but with his soul. HE said that, not me. He went on to say that he doesn't believe in the existence of a soul or life after death....
In other words, he KNOWS that we have a soul and that there is life after death. He knows this as clearly as we know that honey is sweet and that nails are sharp. We know these things because we can taste and feel with our senses and our senses don't lie. He KNOWS that we have a soul that exists independent of the body because he experienced it. But, it doesn't fit in with his belief system, so he doesn't believe it:-).
It is like a sworn pro-arab who insists that all done in the name of Allah is loving and peaceful who watches a youtube video of a person being beheaded in the name of Allah who says "I know that they beheaded him in the name of Allah but I still insist that nobody is ever killed in the name of Allah...."
This is a person who defines himself a super-rational. Hmmmmmm.
Nu. My blessings to Yossi that he do teshuva before it is too late.
