When HaGaon Rav Chaim Kreizwirth was hospitalized in Boston, a certain Jew would come visit him. He asked the person what he does and the man answered that in the morning he is melamed of children and in the afternoon he visits the ill.
Some time later Rav Kreiswirth heard that in fact this man was a scientist, a leading researcher of the human brain. When he came to visit next time, Rav Kreiswirth said - You think that you were being humble when you told me that you are only a melamed and not a world class doctor. You should know that it was actually גאווה, for there is no greater and more important job in the world than being a melamed!!
