Some Tzadikim feel tremendous anguish because of their limited amount of Torah, that is a result of Bittul Torah and a contraction of their da'as that casts a shade on the spiritual light of Torah, to the extent that they can actually feel the pains of gehenom that grab onto a person who weakens his hands from Torah.
Through this tremendous anguish, the soul is cleansed of it's dross and when he starts to become more serious about being diligent in learning Torah, both the practical and hidden sides of Torah, he will feel all of the purity that he can receive from the pleasantness of Torah and the light of his intellect and depth of feeling will return to him, as will the serentity of the soul and the sparkling of his imagination together with exemplary middos. These are all part of the bracha of Hashem that comes with the light of Torah.
יש שהאדם מרגיש את הצער הגדול על מיעוט התורה שלו, שבא מצד ביטול תורה וצמצום הדעת המאפיל על אורה הרוחני של תורה, עד שיוכל לצייר את מצרי גיהנם שאוחזים את כל מי שריפה ידיו מן התורה. ומתוך החלחלה הגדולה שבציור זה תתמרק נפשו מסיגיה, ובהחילו להתאמץ בשקידתה של תורה, המעשית והרוחנית, ירגיש את כל הטוהר הראוי לו לקבל מנועמה של תורה, וישוב אליו אור שכלו ועומק הרגשתו, שלות נפשו וברק דמיונו, מצורפים עם כל המדות החמודות. שהם מכלל ברכת ד' אשר עם אורה של תורה.
