When I was in 9th grade, I would daven shachris in the YU Beis Medrash and I remember seeing Rav Lifshitz ztz"l there all of the time. He definitely was a holy figure and gadol bi-torah. But as a 9th grader from Manhattan, living in the tumah and immersed in sports and pop culture, I was so far from the world he inhabited. I didn't have a clue.
He once stopped my brother [Rav] Dovid, then an MTA student [named "David"], on a cold day, and softly suggested that he wear a coat before exiting the building.
