Missed Opportunities

A man is crawling along in the desert, burning up, calling “water, water, water.”

He comes up to a tie-salesman and he says, “Water!”

Salesman replies, “I don’t have any water, I got ties. You wanna buy a tie?”

Man says, “No. I need water.”

Salesman replies, “Over the hill, there’s an inn, you can get water.”

Man goes and many hours later, crawling back, his face on fire, “Water. Water.”

Salesman asks, “Didn’t you get any water at the inn?”

Man replies, “They wouldn’t let me in without a tie…”

There are a lot of ways one can go with this story. Here is one: In life Hashem sends us opportunities but we reject them b/c they are not EXACTLY what we are looking for. We don't realize that ultimately these things will help us achieve our goals. When we are lucky, Hashem gives us no choice and we have to accept them and see in retrospect how much we needed these opportunities.

Li-myse: Be open to new experiences, ideas, people etc.
