Rav Shlomo Lorencz [Knesset member of Agudas Yisrael] once heard that a beloved Rebbe of his child named R' Deutsch was ill. So he went to the Chazon Ish to ask him to give a bracha. The Chazon Ish didn't respond. He asked him again. No response. Finally after R"L being very persistent the Chazon Ish answered that he can't give a bracha b/c HE DOESN'T SEE HIM.
Later, R' Lorencz found out that by the time he was at the Chazon Ish, R' Deutsch had already passed away.
He didn't want to publicize the story b/c there is no Mussar Haskel for us. Rav Avraham Genechovsky told him that he should publicize the story b/c it shows people the power of Torah.
Similar myseh: A member of the Eitz Chaim Kollel once went to the Steipler [Rav Chaim Kniyevsky's father] and asked for a bracha for the members of his Kollel whose names were written on a piece of paper. When he read one of the names he refused to give a bracha and was visibly upset.
It turns out that it was the name of the irreligious janitor. [it bothered the Steipler that he wasn't frum - not that he was a janitor..]. Rav Chaim's son said he didn't publicize the story b/c his father told him not to [but it was told to Rav Genechovsky who wanted it publicized until he heard that Rav Chaim was opposed].
