A frum magazine in a recent issue has a cover story on the harmful efects of sugar. Then, a few pages later, mouth watering pictures with accompanying recipes filled with sugar and other gastronomic poisons.

It shows how we are all walking contradictions.
To appreciate how much one must have a high level of self awareness and learn mussar properly.
While on the topic of contradictions in the frum media: Articles on Tzadikim together with articles lauding people heavily immersed in Olam Hazeh .... and not necessarily לשם שמים. Articles of inspiring Divrei Torah together with advertisements designed to get you to buy things and go places that will distance you from Hashem. An assumption that we listen to, follow and revere Gedolim together with an assumption that all of the readers have and heavily use the Internet and articles encouraging and celebrating army service [against the directive of those same Gedolim]. Articles and pictures lauding Talmud Torah together with lots of articles about things that distract one from Talmud Torah [like meaningless, purposeless, political analysis]. It is not a criticism of the magazines and newspapers. They are running a business and publish what sells. They wouldn't run advertisements for over the top vacations and watches that cost a fortune if people wouldn't be buying the products. They wouldn't print terribly unhealthy recipes if the ladies wouldn't use them. [We wouldn't have a vulgar, uncouth President if our culture wasn't vulgar and uncouth...]
But NO WORRY - as long as we are in this world we can make the תיקון!:-)
