One of the phrases used in certain segments of religious society in EY is "הצבא הטמא" or as one משפיע has it "די טרייפע טרייפע טרייפע מיליטער". Three times.
Of course there are serious problems posed to a religious soldier and the army often disregards standards of Kedusha and Halacha. But before one calls it a צבא טמא one should consider that these are the people who are literally taking bullets and lives fire into their own bodies to protect us. People whose lives are shaterred in order to protect us. People who are emotionally destroyed in order to protect us. People whose marriages are shattered in order to protect us. People who are losing limbs in order to protect us. People who are dying in order to protect us.
Many of us grew up in homes where the chinuch was less than pristine. Maybe there was open Internet רח"ל or TV and movies or being sent to schools and camps where we were exposed to terrrible anti-Torah behavior etc. etc. וד"ל. Maybe our mother didn't/doesn't cover her hair or dress according to the standards of the Chazon Ish. Maybe our father didn't/doesn't always use the cleanest language or wasn't always 100 percent honest in all of his dealings.
But our parents are NOT "טמא" G-d forbid as far as we are concerned. They are our parents and we owe them just about EVERYTHING. They gave us existence.
The army is not our parents but we owe it too much to attach such a denigrating term to it. It is an army of Jews בני אברהם יצחק ויעקב.
The לימוד זכות is that this phrase is used to deter boys from enlisting which the rabbonim view as a great spirtual hazard but that doesn't justify it's usage לענ"ד.
It implants שנאה on all sides and is NOT a fulfillment of דרכיה דרכי נעם וכל נתיבותיה שלום or the Gemara in Yoma [86a]
כדתניא (דברים ו, ה) וואהבת את ה' אלהיך שיהא שם שמים מתאהב על ידך שיהא קורא ושונה ומשמש ת"ח ויהא משאו ומתנו בנחת עם הבריות מה הבריות אומרות עליו אשרי אביו שלמדו תורה אשרי רבו שלמדו תורה אוי להם לבריות שלא למדו תורה פלוני שלמדו תורה ראו כמה נאים דרכיו כמה מתוקנים מעשיו עליו הכתוב אומר (ישעיהו מט, ג) ויאמר לי עבדי אתה ישראל אשר בך אתפאר אבל מי שקורא ושונה ומשמש ת"ח ואין משאו ומתנו באמונה ואין דבורו בנחת עם הבריות מה הבריות אומרות עליו אוי לו לפלוני שלמד תורה אוי לו לאביו שלמדו תורה אוי לו לרבו שלמדו תורה פלוני שלמד תורה ראו כמה מקולקלין מעשיו וכמה מכוערין דרכיו ועליו הכתוב אומר (יחזקאל לו, כ) באמור להם עם ה' אלה ומארצו יצאו.
We SHOULD call it הצבא של מוסרי נפש - ברכות ה' ושמירתו עליהם ותודה על כל שהם עושים 24/7. A little long but accurate.
