I saw that a RY in EY proclaimed tomorrow [ערב ר"ח ויו"כ קטן] a fast, in light of the גזירות against the עולם התורה.
I am not a RY. I am actually less than a nobody. On a good day. But one is allowed to respectfully ask: When the most brutal vicious people were dead set on killing everyone of us להשמיד להרוג ולאבד את כל היהודים and the Jewish army was fighting them and many young men - many of them husbands and fathers - were being killed and maimed, there was no fast. Over two hundred hostages held in gehenom - no fast. But for this גזירה [which is not really a גזירה b/c the odds of the Israeli government forcibly conscripting hundreds of thousands of Charedim is less likely than me signing an 11 year 279 million dollar contract to play linebacker for the NY Jets and serve as head cheerleader when not playing and my wife signing to play quarterback] - we fast. [Since I don't follow this RY - maybe he DID proclaim a fast for the war. I am assuming that he didn't but maybe I am wrong].
אתמהה.
That being said - if you live in Chu"l [and it is still daytime] and are mekabel a fast mincha - גם ברוך תהיה!!! There is a LOT to fast for. Or, I think this is better English - for which to fast. [Grammar was never my strong point:-)].
