I heard a rabbi compare Trump's pronouncement that the US embassy should be moved to Jerusalem to King Coresh's permission for the Jews to build the Beis Hamikdash, as documented in Sefer Ezra:
When I hear such things it makes me wonder how seemingly intelligent people say the STUPIDEST things. Comparing the US embassy to the Beis Hamikdash??
I am fond of Einstein's quote: "Two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity. And I am not sure about the universe".
Another good one from Martin Luther King Jr.:
That being said I find it remarkable that the President of the United States is so openly pro-Israel despite the torrential attacks on him from all over and that he surrounds himself with openly pro-Israel Orthodox Jews. It is unprecedented in US history. This doesn't mean that Trump is a paragon of virtue. His faults are quite evident. But it does mean that the Jewish people have a huge supporter in the White House.
For that, we thank Hashem and [li-havdil], His messenger, the President. To contrast - Our previous President's middle name was Hussein. He himself remarked that his parents didn't assume he would become president when they gave him that name. I am not a maivin in politics but just about every pro-Israel person I have heard or read, feels that he was no friend of Israel. [I know that there are people out there who disagree]. Be that as it may - we are grateful for a President who is unabashedly our friend, supporter and [one of my favorite words], ally.
