The world can only exist because of the middah of "Shalom" - harmony and peace. All bracha is contained in the receptacle of "Shalom". The day when Shalom comes is Shabbos because on Shabbos, Hashem spreads out his "Succah of Peace" ["סוכת שלום", as we say in davening "ופרוס עלינו סוכת שלומך"] over the Jewish people. Besides the hidden treasure of Shabbos ["מתנה גנוזה" - that the Gemara mentions], Hashem also gives us the means to prepare for the light and spiritual energy of Shabbos by "spreading out His Succah of Peace". This is because this material world as it stands independently doesn't have the capacity to absorb this great Supernal Light. Only through the point of perfection bestowed upon us by Hashem which is the נשמה יתירה can we absorb the Light. Therefore, Hashem said "לך והודיעם" - "go and inform them" - this is the cerebral, emotional and spiritual connection that will prepare them to receive the Shabbos.
