I recently heard an educator saying in a lecture that a parent should not make fun of non-halachic practices [such as giving women aliyot to the Torah] because it teaches our children that sincere attempts to serve Hashem are to be mocked.
That may be true. Or maybe not. Are these people sincere? The only one who knows this is Hashem. Nobody can know what is in anybody else's heart. We often don't know what is in our OWN heart of hearts, affectionately called by modern psychology "the subconscious". Only Hashem knows.
But to all ladies who have a genuine striving to get close to Hashem, a few friendly suggestions:
1] Exercise often, sleep well and cut white flour, sugar, fast food, junk food, soft drinks etc. out of your diet. The first step to teshuva is to heal your body. [Full disclosure: I plagiarized that one from Rav Kook in his Oros Hatshuva].
2] Get rid of your TV and don't subscribe to Netflix. Contaminates the soul.
3] Say a lot of tehillim. Soooo holy.
4] Focus on others more and yourself less. Women by nature on more inclined to care giving than men [we have bigger egos...] and it is worthwhile cultivating this trait.
5] Have a large family and send your children to schools where they are given a solid Jewish education. Too many kids go through 12 years of schooling and still can''t read basic texts. A tragedy [and mammoth waste of money].
6] Figure out what your destructive habits are such as negative thought processes, self destructive behaviors or buying things you don't really need [how about eating even when not hungry??] and learn ways to overcome them.
7] Go to a shiur and learn Torah from time to time. Enriches the soul and recharges those batteries of the spirit.
Avodas Hashem isn't about getting called up to the Torah or being like men in any way. It is about being focused on Hashem and His will. His will is that we transform our flesh and blood into a vessel for His presence.
