Years back I made a simcha [THANK YOU HASHEM FOR THAT!!!] and hired a talented musician 馃幑馃幒馃幓馃幏. It cost me about $300-$400. Today this same performer commands $30,000 [!!!!] for a simcha. It isn't that he got better. It is that back then he didn't have a "name" and today he does. [After I paid him, he sheepishly told me that we had agreed on 25 or so dollars more than I gave him which I promptly added].
So people are paying a few hundred dollars for the actual music and another $29,000 or so [adjust for inflation] for his name.
