I just saw that Netanyahu formed a coalition. Yes, I am a few weeks behind but I am a much happier person when I don't follow the news....
How AMAZING!!! The ממשלת זדון has been supplanted and now we have a true Pro-Israel Pro-Religious government. That is the spirit of what some people are saying.
I am much more wary. On one hand - better than the previous group. One the other - MUCH BETTER than the Brits or Turks when they ran the show here. On the THIRD hand - the Rambam [Melachim 1-7]:
כָל מִי שֶׁאֵין בּוֹ יִרְאַת שָׁמַיִם אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁחָכְמָתוֹ מְרֻבָּה אֵין מְמַנִּין אוֹתוֹ לְמִנּוּי מִן הַמִּנּוּיִין שבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל.
However, under no circumstance should a person who lacks the fear of God be appointed to any position in Israel, even though he possesses much knowledge.
How can a Torah Jew, who REALLY believes in Hashem, the Torah and in Kedushas Eretz Yisrael, not be pained by the fact that so many of our leaders do not fit into the category of those whom the Rambam deems worthy of being appointed to ANY position of authority.
