The Power Of Bias

I saw a sefer this morning in shul in English where the author claims that Rav Kook was against the birth of the State [b/c of the ג' שבועות] and it was only his son R' Tzvi Yehuda who distorted his father's message. The author, a complete ignoramus in the writings of the Rav ztz"l [as is evidenced by his ludicrous claim] truly [in his twisted mind] understands Rav Kook, but his own son who grew up in his home and spent decades editing and disseminating his works, didn't.

WOW!

Mussar Haskel: When one has a bias [and we ALL have biases] it can lead him to think the most absurd things in order to support his bias.

He also writes that the Holocaust was a punishment b/c the Jews fought for a State and went against the ג' שבועות.

WOW!!!

He believes in a God who would kill 6 million people including 1.5 million sweet innocent children who never did a sin in their lives [not to mention the hundreds and hundreds of thousands who survived but were inhumanely and brutally tortured] as a punishment for something that a few hundred people they never met in a faraway land did that is not against any pasuk in the Torah or any din in Shulchan Aruch or Rambam. But rather is based on an one aggadic statement for which there are about 2 dozen reasons that it doesn't apply in our case.

Terrible Lashon Hara about the Borei Olam. [I resisted my urge to throw the book in the garbage.]

Mussar Haskel: See above...

We see this all the time. People are biased in a certain direction so everything has to be explained to confirm their bias.

See out Truth.
