TEANECK, NEW JERSEY - Fun was set to be had by everyone in a few local families this week, as a group of wives from the local shul's sisterhood reached out to each other to schedule a playdate for their husbands.
Dahlia Greenstein, who is close friends with several of the other ladies at her shul, had been looking for a way to get together with them, but said she always had trouble finding an activity that could keep her husband, Aharon, occupied. By planning a playdate with the husbands of the other women, she may have finally solved the problem.
"It's a great way for him to make new friends and get used to playing with others," Greenstein said. "I always connect easily with the other wives, but Aharon has a hard time finding friends. I mean, he goes to shul and chats with the other men during Chazaras Hashatz and Krias HaTorah but that is it. This will be an opportunity for him to spend time with other husbands his age and develop some valuable social skills."
Shira Weinstein, who is friends with Greenstein, agreed that it was a great idea. "It checks multiple boxes," she said. "It gives Dahlia and me a chance to hang out together, and allows us to still keep an eye on our husbands. They're usually fine together, but every now and then, they get up to something and end up in trouble. My husband, Dovi, is just so easily influenced."
Greenstein and Wein agreed to meet at a park next week with a third couple, Josh and Rachel Fried, to enjoy the fall weather and let their husbands have a place to run around and get out their energy.
At publishing time, Greenstein had texted the other ladies to remind them that it would be a good idea to bring some snacks and water for their husbands to have during their play date.
