ויקח בידו את האש ואת המאכלת. עצי העולה, שכח ההקרבה והאכול של הקרבן, העולה, הוא אצלם חתום וגנוז, יש להם כבר קישור עם יצחק, שסוד ההקרבה שלו הוא נשוא בקרב נשמתו הטהורה, הגדולה בעילומה. והאש והמאכלת, המכשירים הגלויים, שתכלית מפעלם היא מוחשת ומורגשת בלא שום תעלומה, הם ראויים להיות בידי האב הקדוש, שהסוד הגדול והנורא הוא פתוח לפניו עומד לנגד עינו, בכל הוד מורא קדשו וחמדת תשוקת אהבתו האלהית העליונה.
And he took the fire in his hand and the knife. The burnt offering wood, the power of the sacrifice and the consumption of the offering, the burnt offering, is sealed and hidden with them [because there is no fire yet so they are only potential]. They already have a connection with Yitzchak, whose secret of sacrifice is carried within his pure soul [because consciously he is not aware that he is going to be sacrificed], great in its concealment. And the fire and the knife, the visible instruments, whose purpose is tangible and felt without any mystery, are fitting to be in the hands of the holy father, before whom the great and awesome secret stands open and before his eyes, in all the glory of the awe of his holiness and the desire of his supreme divine love.
וילכו שניהם יחדו. כאשר הגלוי והחתום הם תמיד מתאימים במלא כל העולם, וההויה כולה, החמרית והרוחנית, והם מתאימים ומשלימים זה את זה כן הוכרח לבא כאן הצירוף, של הרז העליון, של עלית הגשמה בהדר צמאונה לאלהים חי, אשר ביצחק, אל התכן שכבר היה בצורה גלויה, פתוחה ומובנת כולה, אצל אברהם, עד שהלכו שניהם יחדו, בהתאחדותם החמרית והרוחנית. וילכו שניהם יחדו.
And they both went together. When the revealed and the hidden are always fitting throughout the world, and all of existence, both material and spiritual, and they are fitting and complementing each other, then the combination of the highest secret, of the ascent of fulfillment in its thirst for the living God, which is in Isaac, to the content that already existed in a revealed, open, and fully understood form in Abraham, open and understood to all, until they both went together, in their material and spiritual union. And they both went together.
ויאמר יצחק אל אברהם אביו. הנשמה הפנימית, מעומק גניזתה התחילה לחוש, שיש כאן איזה סוד נסתר, איום ונורא, שהוא עומד פתוח גלוי במקום אחר. נשמתו הגדולה של יצחק חשה זיקוק לפתח את מאסר רעיוניה, ע"י הופעת גילוי הרז העליון אשר בנשמתו של אברהם. זאת היא כללות ההבעה הפנימית, שאמר יצחק, באמירת נשמתו הסוערת, המתלהבת, העליונה, אל אברהם אביו.
And Yitzchak said to Avraham his father. The inner soul, from the depths of its concealment, began to sense that there was some hidden, awesome secret here, which was openly revealed elsewhere. Yitzchak's great soul felt a yearning to open the imprisonment of his ideas, by revealing the highest secret within Avraham's soul. This is the general expression of the inner self, which Yitzchak said, in the utterance of his stormy, enthusiastic, and sublime soul, to his father Avraham.
ויאמר אבי. הבטוי היה מלא המית האהבה, אשר התעלתה והתרוממה, באותה השעת הגדולה, למדרגה עליונה מאד, עד שהיה התכן מלא חדוש של אהבת אב, עליונה ואדירה, בשעה רוממה זו, כאשר באמת נתאדרו ועלו רגשי האהבה, הנלהבת והאצילית, בלבו של האב, דוקא בשעה הזאת.
And my father said. The expression was full of the stirring of love, which transcended and rose, at that great hour, to a very high degree, so that the content was filled with the renewal of fatherly love, supreme and mighty, at this exalted time, when the feelings of passionate and noble love truly became ennobled and ascended in the father's heart, precisely at this moment.
ויאמר הנני בני. התשובה באה, בהופעת האורה של כל הרז הכמוס, שהוא גלוי בלבו ונשמתו של אברהם, שמוסיף שלהבת עזה על מוקד האהבה הטבעית התדירית, של האב הנשגב לבנו החביב. והיתה ההבטאה לומר הנני, בכל מלא אהבתי, ההולכת ומתגברת בקרבי בשטף עליון מאד, מפני גודל המאורע ועלית הנשמה בכלל. הנני בני.
And he said, "Here I am, my son." The answer comes with the appearance of the light of every hidden secret, which is revealed in the heart and soul of Avraham, adding an intense flame to the eternal natural love of the sublime father for his beloved son. And the expression was to say, "Here I am, with all my love, which is growing within me with a very high flow, because of the greatness of the event and the elevation of the soul in general." Here I am, my son.
