House Democrat lawmakers could be heard Wednesday shouting “no” after Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert requested a spoken prayer for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a TPUSA event.
Kirk, 31, was shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, leaving behind his wife and two children. While on the House floor, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson asked for Boebert’s request.
"What purpose does a gentlelady from Colorado rise?” Johnson asked.
Lawmakers could be heard softly speaking over Boebert, prompting Johnson to shush them. Boebert then asked if they could take a moment to pray out loud for Kirk.
“No!” Democrat lawmakers could be heard shouting back.
