That is fascinating b/c even in the Dati Leumi community there is a trend [among some] to return to the Tanach and stress Gemara less. Louis would LOVE that. Plus, he should know that in the Beis Yankiv seminaries there is an absolute "no Gemara rule" and those girls TOTALLY embrace the Torah.
