Entertainment

A quote I saw as someone's [A.C.E. which may or may not be my initials] status message:

“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state--it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle.... Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one's actions.

Ohhhhh boooy! Our society is sooooooo entertainment oriented and it's unfortunate. People are missing out on being active and creative. Sitting on a couch for 8 hours watching football may be pleasurable [especially Dolphins-Jets in Joe Robbie Stadium] but it doesn't give a person a sense of self-worth or accomplishment which the human being craves far more than watching a 38 yard field goal go left of the uprights.
The moment a person learns the value of time and the purpose of time, life becomes a far more rewarding and fulfilling experience.
