In the last few years, there have been countless anti-semitic attacks on Jews all over the US and in the world over. Yet, we NEVER ever rioted or looted, as is going on in L.A. and other areas, as we speak.
There is a point where one must make a decision in life to be a civilized human being regardless of the circumstances. Some people, sadly, never make that decision. The whole notion is foreign to them. We have an excuse to be angry? Let's terrorize the city!
What is more - I don't think that this idea even occurred to any of us. Oh, a Jew was killed because he was Jewish? Let us burn down random buildings and loot any store we can break into. But there is a community of people who not only think that way but even act upon it.
Chazal we so wise when they said:
רבי חנינא סגן הכהנים אומר, הוי מתפלל בשלומה של מלכותז, שאלמלא מוראה, איש את רעהו חיים בלעו.
If not for law and order - we are finished as a civilization.
This is definitely a ברוך .. שלא עשני moment.
Two important notes:
1] There are plenty of people - even black people - who are not acting like wild animals. This is not a criticism of every single person. Only those [black, white, purple and orange] who are acting crazy.
2] I am definitely not in favor of killing innocent people of any color. Pashut.
