I believe in Hashem. I also believe that Hashem brought this pandemic. Why? I don't pretend to know.
But there is a thought that keeps popping up in my head: If Hashem put the whole world on lockdown, maybe He doesn't like the way we act when we leave our homes?
MAYBE.
This shiur reflects my personal feelings. There is something wrong with our culture - ESPECIALLY [but not only] for Torah Jews.
Even now that the states are beginning to open up, people are clamoring to places like casinos. It is not just about people getting back to work [which is obviously legitimate] but getting back to the nightclubs, shows, stadiums and restaurants. THAT is what people can't live without. We who live among these people suck up the culture in the air we breathe [as Rav Kahn Shlita put it].
People complain about the President we have. They also complain about the person running against him Sir Biden. Both are [among other things] morally debased. People are right for being dissatisfied but our leaders are a reflection of the culture. Trump could never have gotten elected if our society wouldn't be so corrupt [not that Hilary or Bernie or any of the others would have been better]. In Israel the government was just formed - AS the Prime Minister was going to trial for criminal charges. That says A LOT not only about him but about US [and trust me - I am not in favor of his main opponent and nemesis].
We should want Moshiach NOT because he will solve all of our problems but because he will fix a corrupt world.
