A certain fellow who dresses in religious garb was sentenced a number of years ago to 113 years in jail for abusing Jewish children.
There are people who are trying to get him out of jail, claiming that the punishment was unjust.
I am not a posek or anything but my gut tells me that they are right. The punishment was not just.
His sentence should thus be reduced to 109 years in prison.
Or - maybe 113 years in jail isn't just because it isn't enough. Rather, he should be dropped in the ocean in the middle of the night hundreds of miles from dry land.
That would be more just b/c that would be more of a mini-kapparah for all the lives he destroyed forever and the horrific חילול השם he caused. So with Teshuva eventually his tortured soul will be redeemed.
But what do I know...
