A magazine has a cover story about how difficult it is to be frum and make it financially.

So true!!

On the facing page of the article there is an ad for a Pesach program that will relieve anyone who goes of tens of K'$ for a week of a lot of eating and music.

Really brings the point home.

On that point: If a person wants to engage in excessive gashmiyus then it is more or less a בין אדם למקום. There is קדושים תהיו according to the Ramban and ולא תתורו אחרי לבבכם ואחרי עיניכם according to the ספר החינוך as quoted by the ביאור הלכה in סימן א. Dinei Di-oraisa that forbid excessive immersion in עולם הזה. After 120 we will ALL have to give a דין וחשבון לפני מלך מלכי המלכים הקב"ה. Halevai that we should give דין וחשבון already in this world.

But there is a בין אדם לחבירו aspect. If the Rabbeim and Morah's of these people's children do not have enough money to make it through the יום טוב then they should be taken care of first. It is unconscionable that we entrust our children to educators who we then essentially throw under the bus and take advantage of the fact that we can get away with paying them starvation wages.
