The Israelites did not believe in Moses our Teacher because of the signs he performed, for whoever believes based on signs has a flaw in their heart, as it is possible that the sign is done through magic and sorcery. Rather, all the signs that Moses performed in the desert were done as needed. He did not need to bring proof of prophecy. He needed to drown the Egyptians, so he split the sea and drowned them in it. We needed food, so he brought down the manna for us. They were thirsty, so he split the rock for them. Korach's congregation rebelled against him, and the earth swallowed them.
