Bli neder, I am going to try to post 2 halachos daily about lashon for the coming time.
הלכות לשון הרע, כלל ז', סעיף ה'
הדין שמותר להאמין ללשון הרע רק בשביל לחשוש, הוא בסתם איש ישראל. אבל אם הוחזק בתור אדם רשע שעובר על איסורים ידועים כמו שבת לדוגמא, על אדם כזה מותר לקבל לשון הרע.
הלכות לשון הרע, כלל ז', סעיף ו'
ואם אחד בא אצלו וסיפר לו סיפור שבתוכו יש גנאי עליו ועל חבירו, מותר להאמין לו רק לגבי עצמו ולא לגבי חבירו.

One may not believe lashon hara about a regular Jew but may be suspicious that maybe it is true. However, one may believe lashon hara said of a person already presumed wicked due it being publicized many times that he deliberately transgressed well known prohibitions such as shabbos or adultery.
Hilchos Lashon Hara chapter 7, section 6
If someone speaks of his personal matters and includes something derogatory to himself and someone else, one may only believe the story regarding himself and not the other person.
