Tonight I had Melave Malka with a Jew who was raised in Meah Shearim as one of 17 children. His father had a grocery story and the family lived in a TINY one and a half room apartment.
The punch line - he had a very happy childhood.
Made me think of all of the homes I know of where there was space, luxury, opulence, maids - and misery.
Money - and physical comfort, isn't everything.
By the way - this family also hosted guests....
