Mind Reading

לזכות ידידי אהובי רבי אפרים אבא בן מרים שושנה וכל בני ביתו לברכה והצלחה!

Rav Aharon of Belz would often ask R' Elazar Schiff to stand behind his special chair as a sign of respect because he was descended from Rebbe Elimelech of Lizhensk. One time at the tisch he gave him some tzimmes. There is a debate among the poskim if tzimmes requires a bracha even if eaten as part of a meal. Rebbe Aharon turned to R' Elazar and said "My father [Rav Yisachar Dov] said that on Friday night one doesn't make a bracha on tzimmes and my father was a posek."

At that moment R' Elazar turned pale. He related that at that very moment he was debating with himself whether or not to make a bracha because on one hand many people say not to make a bracha but on the other hand his father who was a Tzanzer Chossid did make a bracha, so maybe he should follow his father's custom. At that moment the Rebbe solved his dilemma....

זכותו יגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל אמן!!
