Continuing the thought from here: Everybody and their grandmother knows the pasuk "דרכיה דרכי נועם וכל נתיבותיה שלום" - "Its ways are ways of pleasantness and all of its pathways are peace."
So if one is behaving in a way that is NOT pleasant or NOT peaceful then IT IS NOT TORAH!!!
There are instances where the Torah commands us to be unpleasant or unpeaceful [such as at war when necessary] but the 'default setting' is peace and pleasantness. It can be quite deceiving to see people who might DRESS in way that reflects their belief in Torah values and then act in ways that completely contradict those same values. This is not a wonder. A person dresses a certain way out of habit and custom. It does not necessarily impact his or her behavior. You can also have someone who is not dressed as one who we would identify as especially devout, but in fact his behavior is filled with peace and pleasantness. A lot has to do with education. We have to educate our children that to act like a vilde chaya is no less wrong than moving muktzeh or eating a food that lacks a hechsher. There is kapparah in this world for the latter two sins but not for the Chillul Hashem caused by misbehavior.
