Israel is an amazing country. A hundred years ago there was very little here in terms of Jews and economic prosperity. Today - incredible. There are over 6 million Jews, countless shuls, batei medrash, yeshivos, kollelim, girls schools, mikvaos etc. etc. etc. כן ירבו!!! The economy is boooooming. The dollar is getter weaker and weaker and weaker and the shekel is getting stronger, stronger and stronger [not so good for individuals who live off the dollar, but that is another story]. There is endless food. Technology is cutting edge. There are more and more and more homes being built [by our cousins on our behalf!!!]. We can say that there Torah's promise of לא תחסר כל בה has been fulfilled. What does our Holy Land lack??
On the other hand .......
We have a virulently anti-Torah government. Netanyahu who was in power forever was no Chazon Ish or Rav Kook [although Rav Kook eulogized his grandfather who was a Rav] in his observance but he is no enemy of religion. The PM wears a kippah [and tallis and tefillin the morning - as we see above] but surrounds himself and made a Bris with Torah haters and our enemies Bnei Yishmael [promising them 53 billion shekel!!!!!] in order to get elected.
The PM was recently asked why he is so anti-Charedi and is promulgating evil decrees to hurt Charedim in the wallet. He explained that he truly cares about the Charedim. That is why he is waving their obligation to go to the army after age 21 in order that they should enter the work force and integrate into Israeli society. That was a disingenuous and patronizing answer. He knows full well that the last thing Charedim want to do is to integrate into Israeli society. Contemporary Israeli society has a value system [or lack thereof] that is anathema to Torah and tradition. Charedim do all they can to seperate from society. Society is filled with immodesty, vulgarity, promiscuity, falsehood, emptiness and a denial of Hashem's involvement in our daily lives i.e. kefirah. Charedim [myself included] want none of that. So saying that he really cares about the Charedim b/c he wants them to be something they don't want to be but should be b/c he knows what is better for them is nothing if not misleading.
So don't be mislead by the kippah on his head and on the heads of some of his cronies. It means nothing. The word בגד is related to בוגד and מעיל to מעילה. Clothing can be very misleading.
It is a tragedy that a Jewish State is led by people who are so far from Jewish values. It aches to think that Trump [and his administration] - no Tzadik[im] by any stretch of the imagination - was more Pro Religious Judaism and Pro Jews [and not Pro Arab] than our very own government in Israel.
There are sincere well meaning Jews who hold that the very concept of a Jewish government in Israel is holy. I don't buy it....
So we thank Hashem for His gift. We are grateful that we are not being ruled by Anti Semitic Brits as we were before the birth of the State and that we get to live freely in the Eretz Hakodesh. But we mourn the spiritual churban of our leadership and pray 'וכל הרשעה כולה כעשן תכלה כי תעביר וכו.
