Busy Man

Or take the Lubavitcher Rebbe as a f'rinstance. He was a busy man. He was constantly reviewing [reviewing because he had already learned it all] the entire breadth of the Torah - revealed and hidden. He would write his chidushim. He would prepare shiurim that he would give for hours and hours. He davened loooong davenings [particularly at his father in laws grave where he would spend hours]. He received people at all hours of the night. He spent 8 hours standing and giving brachos while standing on his feet in into his 80's. He was on top of American politics, Israeli politics, busy with Russian Jews behind the Iron Curtain. He spearheaded tefillin drives, candle lighting for all Jewish women, hundreds of Chabad Houses around the world [I heard that he knew the budgets of 850 Chabad Houses by heart]. He would spend private time with his mother in law who was a widow and his wife who nebach had no children. He would barely sleep. He did all of this [and much much much much more] while fasting frequently. Until his teeth fell out. [And he insisted on eating matza on Pesach even though he couldn't dip it in water because a chossid would sooner dance with the Queen of England before he will eat gebrochts. He then suffered with aching gums until Succos - so related his wife.]

And yet....

He still found time to answer letters. ANYBODY who sent him a letter received an answer [my father in law who was a Lubavitcher for a time has a whole folder filled with letters the Rebbe wrote him]. Today there are at least 23 thick volumes of letters that have been published with many, many more to come. Something to think about next time you get back to someone two weeks later and say "Sorry - was really busy..."

The Rebbe's behavior emanates from a richtige shtarke ain tova.

Love and blessings and may we be zoche to walk in the path of tzadikim.
