Imagine if Yeshiva University's sports teams were called the "Goy Killers". [Whether the real Maccabees would be happy that the sports teams, engaged in Greek athletic competitions, are named in their honor, is another question...].
It would lead to newspaper items like this:
"Today the Yeshiva Goy Killers SLAUGHTERED the Mount Saint Mary Mountaineers 97 - 54, resolving the issue of which religion is the true one."
Well, the "Holy Cross University" sports teams are called the "Crusaders". The Crusaders went around during the middle ages chopping people's heads off [including many Jews] if they refused to accept Christianity.
If most people today weren't ignorant of that fact, I might be offended about the choice of name....
