Former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s grandson, Shmuel Roth, celebrated his bar mitzvah on Tuesday afternoon in Mea Shearim by making a Siyum HaShas in the presence of his father, his Rebbe, and classmates.
The young Shmuel, the son of Reb Daniel Roth and his wife Noa, Netanyahu’s daughter from a previous marriage, learns in Talmud Torah Darchei Shmuel. Shmuel’s Rebbe said at the Bar Mitzvah that in his ten years of teaching children, he’s never come across a child with such talent and genius as Shmuel. He added that Netanyahu obviously did a fine job of passing on his good genes.
The Rebbe said that Shmuel is an incredible masmid and learns even during recess, on vacation days and when the Knesset is not in session. After school ends for the day, he continues his learning at the Beis Medrash Yeshuos Yaakov in Mea Shearim. He began learning Shas when he was ten and continued learning without a break [although he did stop to daven three times a day] in order to complete Shas by his Bar Mitzvah.
Netanyahu commented on his Facebook page that he is thoroughly disappointed. He has devoted his entire adult life to the Likud party and his very own flesh and blood defects to the Shas Party. How can he do that? Doesn't he respect me and what I stand for, cried the "former" PM who would like very much to be the "future" PM. He added that he and his grandson learn Daf Hashavua together on the phone [Shmuel doesn't have a computer at home so zoom is impossible. Besides, Netanyahu is makpid to use Internet for work related matters ONLY as per the psak of Gedolei Yisroel] but he has been unable to convince his grandson to support the Likud.
The last masechta they learned together was Yevamos which Netanyahu said he really connected to, b/c he, like the masechta, is full of "Tzaros".

Apikorus extraordinare. Grandfather - Symbol of secular zionist politics and כחי ועוצם ידי attitude. Mother - studied in Ramaz when she lived in the States. Son - Cheder yingel in Meah Shearim who finishes Shas for his Bar Mitzva. והשיב לב אבות על בנים ולב בנים על אבותם.
Mussar Haskel #2: Send your kids to Ramaz if you want good grandchildren.
