Comments On The Latest Rabbinic Scandal

The Gemara [חגיגה טז] says that man is in some ways like an angel and in other ways like an animal!! Pigs love rolling around in the mud. "As happy as a pig in mud" goes the expression. Why do pigs enjoy that "delicious" feeling of filth and grime? I don't know. Ask a pig next time you see one. ["Hey, Reb Pig - What's up with you and the mud thing??"] People, too, have an odd attraction to the filth and grime of scandalous behavior such as sexual infractions, particularly when they involve famous personalities. And when it is a religious personality - that is the "BESSSTT"!! A veritable "Yuntiv" for the blogs and news sites. Lots of clicks - lots of revenue!!! The more scurrilous and salacious - the better. Classical voyeurism. G-d save us!!

So let me spill the spoiled beans. As we speak, many well known people are involved in illicit affairs. Many watch pornography on the Internet. Other have an illness that makes them attracted to little boys. Some act on this. There are even Rabbonim who are in the aforementioned categories. It turns out that the yetzer hara and the ravage of mental sickness doesn't pass over someone b/c of a title, facial hair, or a dark suit. That is the reality of our world. This will be cured - when Moshiach comes [במהרה בימינו!!!]. But in the meantime - that is the state of affairs [excuse the pun].

So now we can get back to living as Hashem wants us to. That means staying away from the garbage. Let the gutter remain in the gutter. Why put the gutter in your mind and soul? Why not fill yourself with Light and Holiness? There are [abt.] 23,204 psukim in Tanach. They all require understanding. Is there anyone alive who knows each pasuk thoroughly with all the relevant commentaries? Unlikely. And even if there is such a person - you are not that person... And even after mastering all of the psukim -  there is still so much more to say. Many of us have had that exhilarating experience of saying a novel interpretation on a pasuk ["חידוש"]. DELICIOUS!! Then there are 6 orders of the Mishna. And Talmud - Bavli and Yerushalmi. Rishonim, Acharonim. Mussar, Chasiddus etc. etc. SO MUCH WISDOM!!!! So much LIGHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🌞🌞

Yet, millions of people are obsessing over whether some rabbi who many of them never heard of until now and even if they did - couldn't care less about him, raped young girls decades ago or not. Is this why we came to this world? Is there time for such things?? Does this help us fulfill our purpose in this world? Are we helping anyone by reading, thinking and talking about it? No, no, no and no. A resounding NOOO!

If he is guilty - then the authorities will deal with it. Why is it our business? Nobody argues with the fact that it is sick to harm young girls in that way. But why should we place ourselves in that horrific place of immersion in such a "Parsha"??

I am not defending him or incriminating him. Just appealing to the purer senses of my most beloved friends. הרחק מן הכיעור ומן הדומה לו!!!

And לגופו של ענין.
