We have begun שובבים those six parshiyos from Shemos until Terumah where the Mekubalim teach us we must work on our shmiras habris. No sweet friends - not working on OTHER peoples kedusha. We all have enough work on ourselves that we need not look outside of ourselves to fix others [no reference here to current events:-)].
The following is based on a passge from the sefer אבני זכרון on by Rav Nachum Rothstein, a very prominent Rosh Yeshiva in Yerushalayim.
The Rabbis expounded the pasuk "Hashem saw all he created and it was VERY GOOD". "Good" - is the good inclinication, "Very" [good] is the evil inclination. How is it possible to say that the evil inclination is VERY good, even better than the good inclination? The answer is that if we look into the depths of evil that is where we will find the spark of Hashem. Evil is not a true reality, it is all a veil for the Divine presence. If we look beyond the facade we will find infinite light.
Recently we learned that the word טוב denotes continued existence. What continued existence can there be for evil? Evil will eventually dissipate כעשן תכלה like smoke?
The evil will dissipate but the sparks of good which inhere in the evil are indeed eternal. Our job is to seek out the good.
So practically this means that our more animal like desires have a holy source so when feeling attracted to a member of the opposite gender remember that this feeling is what will build the Jewish people but must only be felt when appropriate. This is why marriage is called "kiddushin" - holy! There is nothing holier than marriage which is a relationship based in part on raw physical desire but is sanctified through our curbing of our desires for the right time, place and person.
