I saw an article on one of the kiruv websites asserting that Tom Brady should retire. His time is up.
I searched the article for the explanation of why this person thinks that they know what is better for Tom Brady than Tom Brady. For naught. They just assume that they know better...
First of all - there are a "bunch" of Brady kids [six!!] he has to take of. He might need the parnassa to marry them all off with apartments as is the custom in our parts. He should discuss this with Carol first [sadly - she died three years ago馃槥 ].
But seriously - I think that anybody who plays tackle football professionally is being very foolish. It usually causes chronic pain for life - not to mention the brain damage it causes. I am reminded of a favorite player of mine who suffered brain damage but said that it is worth it. Someone who values football more than their brain doesn't have all that much of a brain to damage...馃槉. But that is a general comment.
That being said - why do people think that they know what is better for other people than those people themselves?? It is more than a little pretentious.
Giving someone unsolicited advice is demeaning. It is saying "you don't know what is good for you - I do".
If someone is doing something unethical then they should be called out for it. But to make life decisions for people - who we don't even know??
So before you give someone advice - ask for permission and ask if they are open to it. Otherwise - it is generally better left unsaid.
